I built a second #GoToSocial #Fediverse server, this time on a VPS instead of RaspberryPi Zero W's. I'm hoping the server is better able to run GtS than the Pi, which became unresponsive at regular intervals.

So I went from a pair of Pi's with RPi's version of #Debian to an #AlmaLinux server on the #OracleCloud free tier. This is an experiment, so I'm hoping for the best in terms of Oracle not randomly killing the VPS.

I haven't set up GtS beyond the testing stage, so it's not live just yet.

while I was playing with #docker on an #ipv6 only host, one of the things I didn't like is that I had to assign public ips to them. I couldn't use a ULA, because that would cause linux to prefer the internal ipv4 address.

One interesting thing I noticed is that if I used the documentation-only range, things worked.

That's cool if you get a /64 range assigned, but in #OracleCloud, you assign ipv6 addresses one at a time... so in this case, you don't have a bunch of addresses.

Nie jest to jednak awaria w @ftdl, #przepraszam za zamieszanie.
Mam dziwny #problem z #MacBook – nie działa mi połowa stron internetowych, tak jakby były problemy z DNSami niektórych stron. Nie działają mi serwisy, o których wspomniałem wcześniej, ale także moje postawione w #OracleCloud.
Na pewno nie jest to wina Internetu, ponieważ na telefonie wszystko działa. Nie mam żadnego #VPN, nie mam ustawionych żadnych customowych #DNS. Nie wiem co robić.
Nie instalowałem dzisiaj żadnych programów, nie otwierałem podejrzanych maili oraz nie przeglądałem żadnych podejrzanych stron. Jedyne co robiłem i co najbardziej nasuwa mi się na myśl to usunięcie aplikacji #OpenVPN oraz 1.1.1.1.
Czy ktoś z was może wie, jak to naprawić?

I got so sick of suffering with Oracle Cloud that I decided to move my junk to AWS.
Yes, AWS is also not without issues, but there is always something worse :)

In general, for the first time I found out the fact that Oracle has its own cloud, when their advertisement of an eternally free tier caught my eye. But as it turned out, it's better to pay a certain amount of money than to constantly suffer.

@jan #OracleCloud uses DHCPv6 for IPv6 support. I had issues (with #NixOS) losing IPv6 addresses after some days, so I just set them statically 🙈

How does #ubuntu 2204 configure it's networking on #OracleCloud ?

I thought it was with #netplan, but maybe it's with #systemd-networkd, but then I see references with networkctl to /run/systemd/network/10-netplan-<iface>... but it won't configure #ipv6. #dhclient works, but that seems dumb.

After many unsuccessful install and build attempts with #akkoma, #pleroma and #mastodon on the #raspberrypi Zero W, I'm going back to an x86_64 VM on #oraclecloud with #ubuntu, where I'll try an #OTP release of Akkoma.

I will also try a source build on the Pi using #asdf to manage the #Erlang / #Elixir toolchain on the advice of @spla

1. zarejestrować się w #OracleCloud,
2. stworzyć instancję wykorzystując do maksimum #FreeTier,
3. połączyć się po SSH,
4. otworzyć porty serwera,
5. włączyć obsługę IPv6
