Das war es mit den #Orkneys: Stromnes haben wir in erster Linie von der Fähre aus gesehen, die diesmal recht nah am Old Man of Hoy vorbei fuhr. Davon abgesehen war es eine recht ruhige Überfahrt.

Etwas weiter Richtung Südspitze der #Orkneys: Die Italian Chapel, die im 2. Weltkrieg in einer Wellblech-Baracke entstand. Die Wände sind nur bemalt, nicht gefliest!

Ein weiterer Tag auf den #Orkneys, mit einem Besuch bei The Gloup, einem Loch im Boden an der Küste mit Anschluss ans Meer. Klar, dass wir gerade Ebbe haben und das weniger imposant gluckert.

Schon cool. Im Januar die Fähre Ende Mai runter von den #Orkneys gebucht, damit alles klappt, & gestern wurde unser Platz storniert, weil Pentland die Fähre verchartert hat und auf dem kleineren Ersatzboot kein Platz für uns ist. Zum Glück gab's bei der Konkurrenz noch was…

Late to the party but here’s the Ring of Brodgar in the #Orkneys

The Ring of Brodgar for #StandingStoneSunday.

We had the stones to ourselves as the sun slowly set, casting raking light across the stones. It's one of my favourite memories, it was so utterly beautiful and tranquil.

@Jnet I went back too, I’d spent years disliking everything Australian and pining for the UK but when we got there, of course, it was all different…

We stayed a few years and I kept thinking ‘When will it start to feel like home?’. But it never did.

Made the decision to return to Oz, and I’m so glad as Australia now ‘feels like home’, at last!

Of course I still miss the museums #Ashmolean #V&A the art galleries, places we visited #Edinburgh #Orkneys #Oxford and the food! #M&S 😄

@anamsona Ireland is on my todo list((not been for years) as well😁along with Scandinavia, mainland Europe. Having said that, I have so parts of Scotland I’ve yet to see😁Hoping to visit the #Orkneys #Shetlands over next year or so😁 #somanyplaces #toolittletime
