Males and females jump together onto the underside of a leaf where they mate and adhere fertilised eggs. The male splashes water up onto the eggs until they hatch & fall back into the water!

Fast fact: Blue Lyretail live for less than a year, dying as their waterhole dries out. The future of their population depends on eggs buried in the mud that hatch as floodwaters inundate the waterhole again!

Presented a poster at the recent #asfb2022 conference poster session, titled Driven to Dumping: intentional release drivers for ornamental species.

So many fantastic questions and conversations about the impacts dumping #OrnamentalFish cause and the release drivers behind dumping- I almost lost my voice by the end of it!
