As hard as it is to do something other than watch streams of migrating soaring #Birds over our heads we also have been watching some of the other #ornithological magic here in The #Straits
Following much needed rain both Wilson’s and European Storm #Petrels amassing in The Straits giving some breathtaking encounters around our private boat excursion 😊
Here a European Storm Petrel cruises past!

Gorgeous rain and cloud has swept into The #Straits today from the west stopping all but the most determined soaring #migrants. With this rain the bushes and trees are now alive with trans-Saharan migrants like this Woodchat Shrike as Common Cuckoo sing and Alpine Swifts rip overhead !
Spring in The Straits - some kind of #Ornithological #nirvana !

For this #caturday, I don't know that the @WilsonOrnithSoc is the most wholesome #ornithological #society but I do know that when we meet our respective #cats are included on the roll in the official minutes. Here's Magic, and what it usually looks like when I'm trying to focus on a call.

Just saw McBurney's version of Die Zauberflöte (Mozart opera). Not a huge opera expert but I always liked the character of Papageno because he's a "bird catcher" and a dreamer. I absolutely loved this one yesterday (Thomas Oliemans), he was walking around with a ladder on his shoulder and a yellow-blue jacket... What other #ornithological references to birds in #music (all sorts)? Old & modern songs? Help me make a list please :)
