One consequence of the loss of decent labour reporting in Canada is that people don't know that many bargaining teams are legally required to support their tentative agreement, regardless of their personal feelings. Unless they have a way for bargaining members to show their dissent the #CUPE #OSBCU team has to show that they support the concession-filled contract offer.

@ThePoint while certainly it's *possible* that the gov't could impose legislation declaring a strike to be illegal, it would not be difficult to see that the blame for school disruptions would lie on them and not #CUPE #OSBCU, which I think makes it less probable.

I think it's important not to lose sight of #CUPE #OSBCU's fight to keep their members out of poverty; that their wages—some of the lowest in the province—have been frozen for least a decade, that the govt was attempting to bargain down their already minimal job security and sick leave, and to get rid of necessary items like more paid prep time and additional staffing.
It's hard to argue credibly how else you could have a better functioning school system, IMO.
