Just watched THE WOMAN KING. What a gorgeous film. I can't believe it received ZERO nominations from the Academy. Angela Bassett was 100% corect to be displeased. She and Thuso Mbedo both deserved consideration, as did costumes, cinemetography and music. #Lovely #Powerful #OscarsSoWhite

The film industry is dead. The #academyawards were always a joke, though. My mom was in the #Academy back in the day and at first she took it really seriously. She would have us all watch the Oscar screeners together, and give our opinions.

She asked another academy member some time a couple years later when she was particularly busy with actual work whether it's like okay to not watch a couple of the screeners, and she was told that it's not uncommon for people to vote on a film without having seen it at all. The #Oscars are mostly just decided based on vibes. That's why #oscarssowhite
