I'm not officially taking sides, but if people don't like the current stewardship of Turbo, Rails, et al. then they can fork anything from the point where it was under a FOSS license if they have enough community support to maintain it going forward.

It's not software, so it's fine to use that license. But v4 was open source under SIL OFL 1.1.
I'm not a legal expert, but this seems to be source-available with a generous free license. Hence, open-washing? 🤔

Im Falle von #Unterseekabeln eben ueber OSI Layer 1, also dem elementarsten Teil. Im Prinzip gibt es aber Kaempfe ueber alle Layer hinweg und ueber Kontrolle bzw. Machtverteilung.
Wir hatten das Thema #Patente bei der #Eigentum Diskussion und wie #China inzwischen auch eigenes #IntellectualProperty schuetzen will. Bei der Kontrolle der Internet Backbones geht es auch um #Sovereignty. Die USA sind nicht bekannt dafuer eine multipolare Welt zu favorisieren oder akzeptieren zu wollen.
Was also passieren kann ist das mehrere Netze entstehen und diese dann vielleicht ueber #Knotenpunkte wie zb. dem #DECIX in #Frankfurt miteinander verbunden werden, um so auch eine #Kontrolle ueber die #Verbindungen zu haben.
Heute wird alles ueber #BGP und die #ASN Vergabe und darauf dann die #RIPE #IpAdressen Vergabe geregelt.
