In the case of the Philippines, some of the published government data is referred to as "open data", but because specifics of local law actually are incompatible with ODbL , and so we need to ask for written waiver/exceptions, if we want to use them with OSM. We've been successful with some government agencies, but not all.
I suppose, the biggest example for this car our community is the #OSMaPaaralan school mapping project https://osm.org/wiki/Philippines/OSMaPaaralan
Stumbled on an interesting #OpenStreetMap #MapRoulette project in the #Philippines, which appears to be building on what the community has started with #OSMaPaaralan

The mapping initiative, which calls itself #AusomeMaps, is keen on improving/identifying schools in #MetroManila that offers #SpecialEducation programs for students with #SpecialNeeds, specifically #autism

The #Philippines school mapping project on #OpenStreetMap, #OSMaPaaralan gets a special mention from @mvexel 's #sotm2022 @maproulette presentation 🎉

Great uses of @maproulette outlined by @mvexel would be great to use this in school mapping project in Tanzania? #SotM2022

Somebody in my inbox asked why a different feature came up in the search results, for the example shown in the photo.
At the time, I did the search, the place node was still missing from #OpenStreetMap. However, thanks to the #OSMaPaaralan project, the information has been made part of the address tags of a nearby school.
That's why the school got a hit (even if it didn't share a name with the feature), because the information is part of its address tag.
Thanks to volunteers, Phase 2 of the #OSMaPaaralan school mapping project of the #OpenStreetMap community in the #Phlippines has mapped over 50% of outstanding tasks, raising the total mapped schools to 48,264.
Except for provinces in the Bangsamoro region, and Lanao del Sur, over 90% of schools has been mapped in each province.

Last year, #OpenStreetMap volunteers added and/or validated 12,824 schools in the #Philippines, helping complete the first phase of the #OSMaPaaralan project. A more challenging second phase is progressing slowly for harder tasks.
Watch out for another public mapping challenge soon, now that the community was granted formal government permission to use another dataset for OSM.

Do you know that IIEP-UNESCO supported a plugin [1] development for #QGIS, for professional educational planners to analyse school accessibility, by calculating travel time and travel distance based on #OpenStreetMap route data.
This is interesting for the #Philippines, now that the local community has wrapped-up [0] their #OSMaPaaralan school mapping project.

Found a group of #OpenStreetMap contributors down in Mindanao who's been adding a lot of hard-to-find schools in Davao region. The data they've added were very helpful in identifying schools that couldn't be verified in #OSMaPaaralan.
Thanked them in changeset comments, and sent them hellos in DMs, but they appear to have stopped mapping a few months ago, just as sudden as they started. Was thinking they were part of a hyper-local initiative.

Here's are some numbers for Q3 for the #OSMaPaaralan school-mapping initiative in the #Philippines by #OpenStreetMap contributors.
While we're likely to fall short of our lofty goal of completing the effort by the end of the year, we are well on track to adding 300% more schools than all of 2019, thanks to contributors like you.

#OpenStreetMap #Nominatim now indexes all addr:*:* tags to improve search results.
We're happy to hear that because in the #OSMaPaaralan initiative in the #Philippines that uses #DepEd donated data , it often includes neighborhood-level place names (sitio, purok, subdivisions), more than street-level information (street name, house numbers)
