Stumbled over a little gem here. It's not medieval but 18C. Name is #Ostriv. It's still alpha but I sunk 35.5h into this almost non stop now. It does _a lot_ right when it comes to organic growth of a city without standing in the way of the player. It's just building and managing. Always something to do or tweak. @juergen_hubert I'm tempted to say it was based on 'The Wild West but written by J. R. R. Tolkien'.

You see the same issue in every medieval city builder simulation game except Ostriv: The village exists alone in a vast wilderness with no connections and only randomly occurring traders and raiders.

Ostriv has a trading system with nearby established villages. I'm still waiting for a game that has a meta map of interconnected villages like Simcities used to have, back in the day.
