129 followers · 423 posts · Server wandering.shopNot at all surprised to see Ryka Aoki's LIGHT FROM UNCOMMON STARS as one of this year's two winners of the #Otherwise award, a very deserving win, but boy am I glad the award write up for it acknowledges how the novel is very steeped in trauma to go along with the donuts and fun. Way too many people rec'd that book last year as "delightful" or "a fun adventure" or some such and didn't mention that it's also looks straight on at lots of trauma.
