After 18 hours straight, Otis stopped fishing and went in for a well-deserved nap. He caught quite a few overnight!

Yep. Otis is STILL there. He's been there since last night!!

I don't know how Otis does it. The stamina it takes to fish for double-digit hours at a time in freezing cold water, not to mention the concentration, is admirable for any bear, much less one of Otis' age! But this is Otis, and this is not unusual for him. By the way, you can see he has already fattened up a bit.

Let's hear it for Otis' legendary work ethic 👏 This bear always pulls all-nighters. While most bears sleep, he is in the office, fishing. He's always done this but seems to pull more all-nighters the older he gets. I'm not a bear expert, but it seems he'd have less competition for fish in the middle of the night. Regardless of the reason, it usually works for him. And he's already beefing up!

Otis was just displaced again, this time by 801.

For newbies, there's nothing to worry about. Otis knows he needs to beef up. He is a smart bear. He didn't get to his age by being reactive and stupid. This is his strategy - avoid conflict. He knows he's too weak to win, eat, gain weight, then begin to take some stands when he's strong enough. He'll get there. No worries. Otis will be just fine.

Six-minute video clip of the complicated relationship between two heavyweights of the Falls - 747 and Otis. 747 greeted Otis when he first arrived in what appeared to be either an excited or aggressive manner. It's hard to say. It never escalated, and they spent most of the night in the far pool fishing. 747 let Otis have the office too. These two have a funny relationship.

This is Otis. 25 years old. The oldest bear at Brooks Falls. He has been up all night fishing. I think his record for non-stop fishing is 38 hours. Yes, you read that right, 38 hours non-stop. And that was just a couple of years ago.

If he could talk, he'd say, "Don't call me the OLD MAN of the Falls!". He has more stamina than bears half his age.
