Otley, in the Wharfedale Valley, is a thriving historic market town with a population of fourteen thousand plus. It has a beautiful setting beside the River Wharfe, and below the wooded escarpment known as The Chevin. Otley is surrounded by spectacular countryside with an attractive riverside and many paths and rights of way leading out of Otley.

Walkers are Welcome Town - Burley in Wharfedale

Burley in Wharfedale is a community of around 7,500 people and lies on the River Wharfe between Ilkley and Otley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

With its associated hamlets of Burley Woodhead and Stead it covers 4.9 square miles about half of which is moorland at a height of 300 metres and above.

Surprise View in #Otley is one of my favourite places to reflect on stuff and remember we are just one small piece of something so much bigger.
Today was more surprising, as I had left the house on my bike for the gym to do a virtual spin class. But the weather was just so nice and the lure of the hills so great that I used the time cycling up to the top of the Chevin and back again in winter sunshine.
