Besides #Outcast A New Beginning, #TempestRising was definitely the most interesting game for me at TQH showcase 2023. Even though I'm not that much of an RTS player these days, I'm looking forward to it.

#Outcast:A New Beginning is apparently a remake/spiritual successor(?) to a 1999 game I never played. But the standard eco-friendly, anti-colonialist plot is accompanied by learning the different aspects of the local ecosystem/culture, which seems weird and potentially interesting.

The problem I had with season 1 is that some players were left without recourse when they were being harassed and stolen from. In real life, you can defend yourself or call the cops but on the show the only recourse was... nothing. What is a player to do when a person comes and destroys your raft while you are there- beat them up? Detain them? That would get them pulled and charged. #Netflix #Outcast #Survival

I wouldn't say #PoliceOfficers are inherently #evil any more than I would say #soldiers are inherently evil. They are a product of a system that uses them as #pawns in a #PowerStruggle between opposing forces.

They are intentionally put in a position where they are forced to confront others that the #RulingClass opposes. And they are trained to #obey their #orders.

The system has its own methods of #SelfPreservation.

Dhalgren (Samuel R. Delany) – Bellona is a city hit by an inexplicable #apocalypse cutting it off from the outside world and where buildings burn for days without falling. Despite many fleeing, the city attracts the #outcast & #marginalised including Kidd, who suffers from #amnesia and is somewhat an unreliable narrator. Dhalgren is very much a slow-paced character study on marginalisation, #anarchy and the edges of reality.
