A quality solo ride into #Cheshire yesterday while everyone else was watching the #TourOfBritain. A quick coffee at The Wizard Tea Rooms after going up Artists Lane before the home stretch. 75km in glorious sunshine (remember that?) and happy in the knowledge it's pissing down at my Mum's in #Chipiona. They need it! Lovely to spend time with Peadar the #Pinarello, too. I've had this bike for over 20 years and I've no idea how old it actually is as I got it second hand from a proper racer!

Today's #ride was what Monday's would have been if I hadn't gotten double impact punctures on the #PinarelloMarvel. Not a problem on #tubeless and #OsgarTheOrro never lets me down! 55km done heading south from mine to just past #ManchesterAirport and turn for home at #Wilmslow. After Wilmslow is #Woodford where this shared path section starts and takes you all the way to #HazelGrove, near #Stockport, about 5km. Sweet! Got home just as my wife rang our son for tech support on how to tether her phone to her Chromebook while she was at her brother's. Invoice is emailed!

Sneaked out yesterday afternoon for @ 40km doing some local lumps. Just about 10km from home you really get into the hills if you head north and/or east. Lovely countryside, hard as nails, but so rewarding. This photo is from the top of #Lydgate near #Mossley. It's a three step climb, short but very steep on the steps! I love riding my #bike .

Just under 80km today with #DukinfieldCC , an easy, flat(ish) ride through north #Cheshire. The only serious climb of the day was up #ArtistsLane and the #WizardTeaRooms are at the top of the climb so a great place to stop for coffee and to refuel. And it gave Emidio the chance to take the obligatory selfie of us all (L-R Jon, Dan, Paul, me, Ash, Emidio). From there it was mainly downhill back to East #Manchester. Another excellent Dukinfield CC ride, this time to Farm Made Tearooms at #Rainow, with Jane and Paul Nyland, Danny and Emidio. The cafe is in a glorious setting, near the bottom of #BlazeHill. And you get the chance to see #WhiteNancy . The only drawback today was my chain snapping at the bottom of the Climb Of Doom, a.k.a. #Chadkirk. I managed to get that sorted but walked up the climb as I didn't want to risk using my excessive wattage again in case I snapped it one more time. So that's a new chain and cassette I'll be ordering..

A heady couple of hours on Osgar earlier. Lots of climbing but we both enjoy it. Some friends (not food) and #HartsheadPike from the top of Mossley Road, looking down on #Greenfield and #Uppermill from Ladcastle Road, the top of Grains Road and looking down on Town from Top O' Th' Meadows. Lovely stuff. And all this was after I'd been chatting with the #vegan protesters outside Pilgrims in A-U-L. Power to the plant eaters!

I had a great ride today with Danny, Dougie and Angie (fellow Dukinfield CC members). It looked a bit grim when we set off from Dukinfield but the sun came out once Angie left us at the top of Marsden Moor (image 1)! And we nearly got hit by a deer hopping across the road just after Scammonden Dam (image 2). About 10km from home on Sunday (I'd done @ 93km around the #Cheshire lanes by this point) I nabbed a shot of the Phil Foden mural on the corner of Wycliffe Street and George's Road in Stockport. In that 15 minutes the weather had become decidedly wet, and it rained the whole time I hiked the 5.3km to Fair Haven campground on the west coast of the #island .
As the rain didn't look like it was going to abate any time soon I pondered what to do. After a while I decided to assemble my tent in the dryness of the shelter next to the gas barbeques. Once I had the inner tent and fly assembled I 'transplanted' the assembled tent to a nearby #camping spot and pegged it down. Then I quickly put the sleeping mat, pillow, sleeping back and back pack into the tent.
