Y'know it'd be cool if someone made 4:3 focused gamescope overlays for 16:9 and 16:10 (because Steam Deck) monitors. Stuff like pic related, but it'd be modeled after an old CRT PC monitor, complete with the ability to use scanline filters and stuff.

The kind of stuff that you can put in retroarch, but you can use it for regular PC games instead of just emulators.

I hope someone's made that and it's just a matter of finding it.

I'm getting frustrated.

One of the #a11y #overlays I am testing keeps removing itself from my website. I have a paid subscription. The 1-line overlay code is implemented. I verified the installation.

And still, I had to re-verify the installation for the third time already. The admin dashboard remains blocked because it thinks the overlay is not implemented. The support is in another time zone, so I must wait a few hours for a response. I can't wait for their explanation 🙃

Yesterday evening, one of my user study participants called me panically and told me about the blog post by @LFLegal about the lawsuit AudioEye has issued against @aardrian. Please note: I am currently writing my master's thesis about #a11y #overlays.

The participant wanted to ensure that I won’t state their name or identity anywhere within my thesis linked to their comments during testing. They were afraid. I guess that’s the goal of the lawsuit.

@kentbrew @cbroome @pluralistic The worst is in my field of web accessibility. Almost every serious advocate is in agreement that companies selling overlays for accessibility are creating needless obstacles for true web accessibility just in the interest of profit.

When I do a search for any topic related to web accessibility what tops the results? Two or three ads from overlay companies pitching their problematic "solutions."
