All these protest movements used Twitter to communicate and mobilize their efforts. Now it appears all the visual material and links related to these movements are gone:

I love that guy. He's so smart. Saw him do a spoken word show in '11. The fact that he never mentioned #OWS is how I knew it wasn't the revolution. He would've said something. 😃

The open water swim from Faulensee to Spiez went pretty good. There was a constant headwind, but swimming the other direction would have presented some logistical issues with the SUPs. Water was refreshing on a hot day like this.

Was looking for a new and challenging open water swim event to participate in. Found a very cool one, but the date (already end of June) could not be worse. For one I'm not nearly trained enough, but a conflict with another event is killing it for sure.

At least I now know what to aim for in 2024: the crossing of the Bodensee, swimming from Switzerland to Germany. My longest swim so far is 4km, so the 5km crossing will be a real challenge.

Speaking of #Occupy, a segment on a morning news show today featured a charity that purchases medical debt on the debt collection market, and then forgives the debt. The founders got the idea from #OWS when visiting Zucotti Park (the site of New York City's Occupy) and being asked to help buy people's debt the way for-profit financial companies do. A form of #MutualAid that disrupts capitalism.

Another mycorrhizal thread of OWS that I didn't know of. I'm sure there's many more.

Activism spreads like mycellium.

I particularly note how

Was thinking about #OWS and #Signal am the early days of TextSecure and Redphone. Sure it had its bugs and Signal is amazing but watching TextSecure do an OTR cryptographic exchange via SMS was so, so cool.
