I've settled down a bit after an initial adventure ever since starting worrying me. Here's what I've settled down on now, after experimenting with different setups:

1. and on my primary and experimental laptops
2. to synchronize dotfiles
3. to manage command line utilities across distros with
4.i. + + preferred on
4.ii. on

is very cool....

Yes, dear package manager, I definitely did want to upgrade my installation when I’m rebuilding my package. You know, the package I had to downgrade every time I tried to update a completely unrelated package.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a that is less “helpful” and instead simply does what one asks it to do? ’s approach of “oh, this looks a bit outdated so let me ‘help’ you with this” is starting to get on my nerves.

@porkroll Because there is no rational reason they can't deploy via or whatever crutch their uses [because doesn't have any good whatsoever]...

It sounds more like and I'm convinced that it's trivial to their systems since one can configure the USB-IDs and functionality of tools like the / ...

to manage , custom scripts, snippet files, etc. is pretty cool.

I haven't been able to get working yet (running on ).. but I'm targeting something like:

- homemanager config to ensure git, cheznoi, etc are installed
- chezmoi to update dotfiles

From what I've heard, I won't need at all once I'm familiar enough with the setup, but that's a steep learning curve, and not in the immediate future.

As someone who’s always used Debian based distros. Could someone explain why Apt gets so much hate?

Somehow, every that tries to replace is worse than the last.

I can't even open 's package_lock.json in my company's because runs out of memory trying to display a changeset.

I don't even WANT a fucking package_lock!!!

Orogene, orogene.dev/.

> Orogene is a next-generation package manager for tools that use node_modules/, such as bundlers, CLI tools, and Node.js-based applications. It's fast, robust, and meant to be easily integrated into your workflows such that you never have to worry about whether your node_modules/ is up to date.

It’s really faster than other tools, check the benchmarks, github.com/orogene/orogene/blo.

@dolari also is , inherently insecure and.doesn't even come with the most basic tool out of the box, like a useable (neither nor nor !)[ Subsystem for Windows doesn't count as it's not default preinstalled and integrated] nor trivial things like a or working & .

Shit that Linux does for 15+ years now...

@itzzenxx I do disagree since @fdroidorg always pulled the sources and built and signed them.

that being said IDK of anything behind the scenes and since itself is an FLOSS'd , one can replace their repo entirely...

Working on a Debian machine...
Slow speeds? That's because it's a slow WiFi adapter. Why? I'll be microblogging on this machine as I go, and also making a whole blog post about it on my website.

@opensuse NOICE!

Personally, I think all are good ideas, tho is better for , better for and works best for single standalone executeables.

I've used all 3 of them and I do prefer Flatpak for Desktop since it has a proper [unlike ] and is wider adopted than Snap...
