She was one bastard of many, locked inside an infinite tower by the jealous empress. One day, she made the only choice she had, to escape in the only way she knew—
She sung a #paean to the neverending wind, and let #gravity take hold. After #plummeting for half a lifetime—someone caught her. A passing god, riding a chariot pulled by wolves, smelling of smoke and blood.
“Well done,” said the god of vengeance. “Better me than the god of death, right?”

In the vault beneath the arboretum, Kane found a woman singing a paean to Kelden The Philosopher. Whether she was a pastor or a mere worshiper, she would fight with a mighty wrath to defend her god; Kane knew he would do the same if someone tried to harvest power from Rithkaleen The Buried, so he hid and waited for the woman to leave. The best way to win a fight was to avoid it altogether, and it would be a shame to miss the end of such a beautiful song.

I sleepily paid my fare, ignored the booth attendant's command of "Lane 3," and drove onto the first vessel that docked.

Five minutes later, as the unearthly #paean of 🎶Hail, Queen Titania!🎶 went up and the vessel magically rose into the air, accompanied by the fey lights of thousands of tiny winged beings, I immediately realized my mistake.

That night, I missed my usual ride home and took the fairy boat instead.

Grinning, she slipped through the rubbled entrance. "Free admission."

Aftershocks had collapsed the galleries. Only the atrium statue, a seated Thinker, remained to ponder the ruins.

She approached it, glass crunching underfoot. "It's the ultimate installation, a #paean to human self-destruction."

"Or just the strength of bronze. Is the gift shop still intact? I want a souvenir from art-mageddon."
