Les Rencontres seemed to be an appropriate moment to talk about this piece of software. Padatrad is a webapp made to facilitate collaborative translation and publication through a free single-source toolchain. Basically, it uses Etherpad, Markdown and #PagedJS to edit and render the users' translation into a publishable document.

It is also the first software published by Éditions Burn~Août :)

Been doing this afternoon something I should have done some months ago: documenting and cleaning my `facing-sections` #pagedjs hook.

Basically, what it does is putting one section only on the left pages, and another one on the right pages. It can be quite useful for bilingual projects for example.

Blink (Chromium, Chrome, Brave, Edge...) now implements the hyphenate-limit-chars property. This is great news for typographic composition in #cssprint ! Seven years I've been waiting for this feature 🎉, beautiful day in web practices. (@firefox we're waiting for you :ablobcatheartsqueeze:)

@pandoc I have a question using #pandoc and #pagedjs. I'm convertir a markdown file to PDF. I understand that I need the --pdf-engine=pagedjs-cli option, but what should I use for the --to parameter: pdf or html? I don't see any difference. Of course, I have also --output=file.pdf parameter defined.

I really REALLY want to use @firefox when working with #cssprint (and #pagedjs) but it's missing two key features: widow/orphan support and custom page size when generating the PDF. Please @mozilla , we are so looking forward to the implementation!

@yaxu Have you try #pagedjs. It's so nice to layout book on the browser. If you want to discuss, It's a pleasure. I'm using also pad to write markdown and design collaboratively with pad some books (during workshop)
