On case anyone has a child who likes Frozen, or if you like Frozen yourself. This month's Frozen magazine comes with two big plastic minis.
My daughter got one, then I went out and snapped up another and we've started painting them together (I primed them first as I got a bit panicked about painted onto bare plastic!).

I do have my travel kit, so I will be painting while i'm there, since I won't have a ton else to do sunday through wednesday nights, and I'll be doing some more work on that minotaur.

Forgot to post this figure this week, but here's what I painted for Labor Day!
This is a Dwarf Cleric model of the Mordengard faction from the amazing miniatures game D&D Chainmail (2001). Mordengard dwarves threw off the shackles of their king and live in a state of revolution, ever striving for a more egalitarian society.
Painted with P3, Citadel shades, and a few pots from Wargames Foundry for the skin.

A good mini starts with a good base!
This made initially from Apoxie Sculpt with the Basius MAX Imperial road pad, pressed on a section with a lot of road decay. The bricks are umber (I forget if it's raw or burnt), alizarin crimson, napththol red light, and army painter strong tone + flow improver. The dirt sections got covered with some dirt texture paste, and the grassy sections got covered with elmers + alcohol -> grass.

Bedtime meant I could blast these. Very rough and ready, in a big block theyβll do the job nicely. Bashed out over four short sessions. Aimed for a darker twist on classic High Elves instead of classic DE purple, black, and red.
Need basing, just waiting on some tech paint. Aiming for cracked earth and grey drybrush. Again nice and simple along a theme.
