My last boost from @b0rk_reruns about splitting a git commit makes me think about pairing. I learned SOOO much about git, and many other things, from pairs, as a junior dev.
And yet, as a neurodivergent, burned out senior dev, I don't have the spoons to pair much. In large part b/c masking to pair when I was junior.

But to what extent is that pulling the ladder up after me?

How can we find other ways to teach as effectively, without the same burnout cost?

Still an interesting perspective. We do a lot of pairing, not just of developers - it's always a useful technique for knowledge transfer, fast feedback, and to reduce single points of failure.

@onrust brilliant to recognise that, it's not easy when maybe even the people making the partnerships needed their job to be paid for? Or thought they needed the 'capitalist core' in a capitalist world. But it's great to see evolution towards user rights advocacy groups. Probably decarbonisation and many similar groups trying to do a good thing, have been on a similar journey. Eg I'm pretty cynical about #probono #softwaredev, #probono #pairing may be more sustainable.
