This #painting is a re-imagining of a classic work "Crossing the Flats" by #palaeoartist Mark Hallett, of the sauropod dinosaur Mamenchisaurus.

Mark's work is long and flat, with the animal's neck stretched horizontally, which was the thinking at the time. We're now swinging around to a more vertical neck pose for these animals, and it got me to wondering what such a painting would look like now.

Just a quick #introduction for those who don't know me:
Hi, I'm Julian. I'm a #palaeobotanist and #palaeoartist based in the UK who specialises in reconstructing the life apperance of #extinct #plants. I have a BSc in #Palaeontology and i just finished an MRes looking at Early Cretaceous #gnetophytes (and a few #angiosperms).
That's about it really.
I do art. I love plants. Fossils are cool. And animals.... well I suppose they're cool too.
