I should do a proper #introduction! I am interested in the evolution of viruses, and the long term interactions between viruses and their hosts. This means I spend a lot of time looking at endogenous viral elements, 'genomic fossils' of ancient viruses, the subject of #paleovirology. I also work on modern viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and HIV. I am particularly interested in the processes that govern cross species transmission, and on adaptation following this. Also, fascinated by co-opted viruses.
