“Your mammy is your mammy”. That’s what the Palliative nurse said to my sister and I after my mothers #pancreatic cancer was diagnosed.
I had just told him that my father has also died of an aggressive cancer and he said “I know you say that you’ve been there before, but your mammy is your mammy”. My sister and I looked at each other, holding back our tears.
I’m understanding it more now, ‘your mammy is your mammy.”

In the last month my mother died of #pancreatic cancer, I got Covid and went to recover in the sun. I’m back at work on #bluemonday. I have learnt that grief comes in waves. Today as I worked through emails, my watch told me to stand up, and as I did I hear myself saying “I miss my mother”. Boom, I’m hit by a wave.

Important ESPAC-5 study on neoadjuvant treatment of #pancreatic #cancer #pdac .

Again just like the A021501 trial (10.1001/jamaoncol.2022.2319) showing that radiotherapy is not a good idea for patients in the neoadjuvant setting. Pancreatic cancer is a systemic disease from early on and must be treated as such.
