Whelp, 11 miles is my current operational distance without injuring myself. I made the extra five miles back to the house but it damn near killed me (well, it felt that way anyway). My feet are screaming (and blistered). My legs and hips and shoulders are all screaming. I had to break every half mile after mile 12. I'll need to figure out how to drop another 3-5 pounds off the base weight at least if every 15 mile day is gonna be like this and I don't acclimate. I'm currently hauling a two-person 5.5 pound tent. That's gotta go.

And I also had "pancreatitis pain," which is my colloquial term for when I feel abdominal pain that resembles the pain I get in the run-up to a bout of acute pancreatitis (I've had three bouts so far; they hospitalize me each time I get a bout). Scared the shit outta me. It's subsided though. So I'll need to be super attentive to that as well while in the Backcountry. I might pick up a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon; basically a "I'm fucked please come rescue me" Beacon) after all.

Now I'm waiting for the 600mg of ibuprofen to take effect. And for the exhaustion to put me to sleep.

My mom is in the hospital with acute #pancreatitis. It's painful and discouraging and it's a #challenge to even eat something as simple as jello! And to top it off she might also have pneumonia. Can I get some encouraging words?

Vialli was re-diagnosed in 2021. This must have been shattering after what he'd been through.

I have a lot of sympathy as I've endured #pancreatitis for 8 years. I've lost 60% of my pancreas and have a tumour at the pancreatic duct. But hey ho, my medical team are monitoring it & I feel fine

Stuck in the #hospital again with #pancreatitis, but this time I’m on #vacation on the far side of the country, and we’re supposed to be #flying home tomorrow. #HappyHolidays indeed.

Jay maintained a healthy diet and never smoked, yet was diagnosed with #PancreaticCancer. Tested at #MSK, he was found to have a #BRCA defect. His mother & aunt died of breast & ovary cancers in their 30s, and there was painful #Pancreatitis on that side of the family, most of whom were teetotalers. Genetic testing is now recommended for everyone with #PancreasCancer. I thought Jay really rocked (!) a bald head with #chemotherapy….in this case #Abraxane, or, #Nab-paclitaxel.
