an example of why algorithms really suck is how they almost always fail to make meaningful HUMAN connections between artists and songs

these are the artists that #Pandora tells me are similar to #DiamandaGalas: Marianne Faithfull, Nina Simone, Bjork, Dead Can Dance... all great artists, but none come close to what she was doing

when I want "similar" to her, I don't want "female vocalist" "unconventional" "opera singer" "blues" "gospel", "avant garde"

no, fuck those, what I want is "gut wrenching" "incantation" "ritualistic" "soul destroying" "hallucinogenic" "psychoses inducing" "sorcery" "thaumaturgy" "conjuring" "necromancy"

or, when my mood is different: "sedation" "hypnotic" "trance inducing" "contemplative" "ecstatic"

i don't give a rat's ass about genre. i get that it's a necessary evil sometimes as a shortcut. but it misses so much of what's important in artistry

the whole "if you like X, you will like Y" thing is so fucking stupid because it doesn't adress *why* i like X!

Worked on one major core feature today: property settings!

This allows users to customize individual properties, e.g. min+max values and filter for specific categories.

In this example, I specify that the rarity property should only display options of the 'Rarity' category.

After all these years and recent new #handheldpc like the #ClockworkPi #DevTerm or #uConsole this litte embedded #Linux powered device is still the winner in comparison for me. Battery lasts more than twice as the other two, lighter, better to type on, faster in terms of real world usage b/c of bloated linux these days...
