@mikemc303 @Techaltar It would be possible in the span of a few months to solve both the housing crisis and the need for so much commute if the will was there (there's so much empty pre-flattened land to go around).
The science of building & setting up #PanelBlocks is fairly mature by now.
Yes that means #CarDependent suburbs would need to be abandoned, they were never going to be sustainable.
(#Streetcar / #tram suburbs can work somewhat.)

@clockwooork @futurebird And the artificial pavement desert around it will keep damaging the surrounding environment for decades to come.
Most American malls are surrounded by such absurdly large and useless parking lots. You could easily fit hundreds of families in fairly comfortable #panelki apartments in them & create a walkable neighborhood with space leftover.
Same for Canada. And yet instead somehow we have a housing crisis, despite space available everywhere.

@yassie_j And as you start trying to optimize the #efficiency of the #design you end-up reinventing #panelki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panel%C3%A1k / https://www.zupagrafika.com/shop/panelki), much like optimizing #transportation leads to reinventing the #train.
It's very similar to traffic jams on highways really, you just need to see a single instance of one to wonder just why it wasn't built as its more efficient form.
