黒以外の紙でも切り絵をしてみたくて、色々と探してみたけど一般的な上質紙には好みの色のバリエーションが無かった。欲しかったのは深い紺色。
オリオンのタント紙に丁度A4サイズで好みの色があったので、試してみたらなかなか良い感じ。
上質紙よりは厚めなので、少し力を入れる必要はあるけどその分破れにくい。

モチーフはチェ・ヒャンミさんのANIMAL FANTASYから。端が切れてしまったのでちょっと失敗。

to 2017:

PERPLEXITY
Acrylic and Gold leaf 23.75ct on paper, hand-cut, assembled on mount board. 64x64 cm.

Inspired by an Ibn Arabi quote: "I threw myself into perplexity and He left me swimming in it."

The word ḥīra حيرة here eludes any recognition unless you know it’s there. The pattern was cut out from a single sheet of black card, which adds to the confusion by casting shadows where it is lifted.

Making decorations yesterday for our front door. Tissue paper pasted to the glass first, then origami paper cutouts. Not a permanent installation - we have had many iterations over 25 years, some of them seasonal and so short lived, others lasting a long time until they faded or got too battered.
