This image is based on one of my father's photos of an immature trumpeter swan in Minneapolis.
Don't quote me but I believe they have brown feathers for the early stages of adulthood.
This is a CMYK plot with freehand acrylic paint pen over the top, I also used bleach and Krylon Fixatif to alter the hue in a couple spots.

So woodburning this variety of watercolor cardstock with a calligraphy nib gave this polished glossy surface that really surprised me!
The paper buckling is an issue, might have to look into getting an A3 size press to flatten prints if I'm going to do this regularly.

I'm going to have to look at #vpype or maybe @toxi 's library for pen plotting and see if I can tie speed and shading somehow.
A woodburning tool can do half tones and gradients where a laser is essentially pointillist.
A lot more control is possible, I just haven't hacked it together yet. Really excited!

Well, it's a glacially slow process but I'm really liking the way this polishes the paper and gives kind of irregular shading to the wider width lines.
Definitely different from a laser plot!

I think most generative artists, and especially #penplotter artists use the medium as a way to express a form of highly rational ordered beauty. It's a product of their technical skills, their refined aesthetic senses, and their more general passion for creativity and problem solving.
I may never entirely fit in, despite some technical skills for me an AI model and a stack of algorithms is a prosthetic.
