Remember this photo, that I've sent around a few times? Ghost Pipes (the flowers) of a a plant, not a fungus, that is parasitic on mycorrhizal fungi? (This plant does no photosynthesis. It steals all its food, making it a true parasite.)
Here is a link to pt 1 of a 3 part podcast talking about the symbiotic relationship that mycorrhizal fungi have with trees. There are quite a few details here I didn't know.

A difficult part of controlling some #parasitic #diseases is their complex #lifecycle with multiple #hosts.
But this can also be used against them by controlling their hosts.
This article outlines a fantastic #schistosomiasis #management strategy in which #snail #habitat (#vegetation) was reduced.

@loren I have Australia's largest bee for you: Megachile monstrosa.
Marked as sensitive as it may appear scary, but this solitary bee uses her huge mandibles to dig a nest in solid wood.
In the last photo, you can see her enlarging a knot hole while a gasteruption wasp (parasitic) waits for an opportunity to lay her egg on the bee's egg. Wood shavings were falling on me as I took this photo from below.

Cuckoo wasps are most commonly metallic green, so it was exciting to see a blue one the other day. Being both metallic and not stopping for long in one spot also makes them very difficult to photograph.

#Life is short. I think a big part of why we have #work #shortages is people are realizing their #time is #valuable. #Corporations don't value people's time, even though time is the most valuable #asset we have. We are expected to #work #parasitic #jobs that suck the life and #joy from us for the majority of our lives. There's no #balance, not if you want a liveable wage. Many people work two jobs and just barely make it. That's no life.
