A weird day yesterday.
I dropped my eldest off at the airport as he moves out, to the Netherlands.
It's a great adventure, and I am obviously a proud dad. But, I have woken up this morning and I miss my boy.

I describe myself as introvert/extrovert and I am definitely not 50/50. I feel whilst I am having to be more visible and interact online and offline, really my inner introvert just want to stay inside the house and spend lots and lots of time by myself. I am finding I have less time to recharge my social batteries than I used to, especially now I have a very sociable child.

Today my son was feeling poorly and stayed home from school. Promptly at 3:30 the automated system called me to let me know that he was marked absent for the 1, 2, 6 and 7th periods. Had to have a talk with him about sneaking out of the house and going to school in the middle of the day. #ParentingIsHard

For breakfast this morning, Paul ordered in a McDonald's breakfast. He'd promised me one after I'd finished giving birth. Why? Well, for me, a McDonald's breakfast is something I always indulge in when I'm getting a morning train back from Paddington to Truro. I think symbolically for me, it's like a representation of finishing one grand journey (which, for me, any trip to London usually is) and then going back to the main journey that is my life... 1/

Our family has a policy where the kids are allowed to ask any question and us parents will answer as best we can. All was going well until my 6 year old asked me what "ballbag" means and I got lost in fits of giggles.

With Christmas fast approaching is like to recount my favorite Christmas memory.
We returned home late with 2 sleeping 3 yr olds in the backseat on Christmas Eve. We gently picked them up and transferred them to their cribs. Twin 2 immediately fell asleep and slept soundly until morning.
Twin 1 woke up and demanded to be returned to her car seat while screaming at the top of her lungs and taking off all her clothes.

This has been an unexpectedly busy period for me. I’m prepping to go to Montana for two weeks over Christmas, I’m trying desperately to catch up on advent of code and all of a sudden every project I’ve had in the pipes at work has suddenly become a thing that needs to be done. On the home front my 13 yr old has suddenly decided that he’s going to embrace being a teenage to a degree I hadn’t expected. Hasn’t left me with much time anywhere else.
