My route involved crossing the local #stroad twice, in all its dreadful stroadiness, but finding a chain of parking lots that got me half of the way there was worth it. And gratifying, like solving a puzzle.

2) Turn the ludicrous amount of #parkinglots here to your advantage. Mapping apps generally won't use them in routes, but you can. For example, most of my route to work is a string of parking lots like this one, only busy a few days of the year. I think of it as my personal ultra-wide #skate path. Only 4% of my route to work is on city streets, and most of that is simply crossing them. Scour the aerial imagery and keep your route flexible, open to possibilites which may not be obvious.

Owned by a church and just 2 blocks from the most major downtown intersection. This solution would be perfect but providing needed housing doesn't seem to be in the church's interest or scope of service.

Images of commercial American landscapes are often interpreted within a narrative of a pathology of #spiritual sickness at the heart of #American culture. This is a very difficult narrative to get past. When I make an image like this, I'm not saying this is ugly or needs fixing. It's just what I saw and recreated in a way appealing to me. It is what it is and what it came from.
