Time for my . I am the assistant editor of the House of Commons, 1832-1945 project at the History of Parliament Trust. We are currently researching the period 1832-68. I'm interested in 19th century British parliamentary, political & electoral history, including party organisation, Parliament's buildings, electoral corruption and women's involvement in politics.

post!

I'm a Scottish librarian working in London; primarily what I write about here is my and work.

The biggest chunk of that is the project - trying to build a rich dataset of historic parliamentarians, and figure out what interesting things it can tell us.

Throughout British parliamentary history, public bills have sometimes been influenced by prejudices and self-interest, including the Irish Cattle Bill. This bill prohibited the import of cheap cattle from Ireland to benefit English landowners.
