#NZTwits, a very real and frightening reality to consider when deciding how to cast your #NZVotes2023 #NZPol #PartyVote is who owns and controls #Aotearoa #NewZealand. The attempts for the Govt's #3Waters urgent investment and upgrades has not only been opposed to by both National & ACT but have been stymied by far right racist rhetoric and political opportunists funded by dark money.

@ramshackle @isaacfreeman @phil_stevens @runoutgroover I appreciate your passion but realistically, in a democracy, power is decided by a majority. Fortunately NZ has mixed member proportional representation meaning although you may not agree with the center majority you have the power to influence the flavour and diversity of govt towards your ideal by virtue of the #PartyVote Not voting leaves you powerless.
@esoterica @lightweight Under FPP NZ actually had govts put in power with a minority popular vote ie the opposition party had received more votes but due to electoral boundaries didn't win a majority of electorates. I think a lot of #NZPol people don't understand how #MMP works. The #PartyVote is the only thing that decides the proportionality of parliament other than a party having 1 electoral seat increasing the party's number of list MPs as in Seymour and Swarbrick's cases.
