Finds ja gut, dass #VW mit dem #ID7 mal einen nicht #SUV #BEV herausbringt. Aber die Farbauswahl ist an Langeweile und Spießigkeit kaum zu überbieten. Bei dem Konfigurator muss man echt aufpassen, dass man ich dabei einschläft.

@olbi74 Ja das Problem gilt aber generell, ein aktueller #Passat Variant startet mit einer ähnlich Ausstattung wie der Basis #ID7 bei 55.000. Die Kisten sind alle Sauteuer geworden ob Elektro, Diesel, oder Hybrid

Smaller turnout for #CarsAndCoffee in #Galway this morning, we had a big car show last week. Personal highlight was the #Volkswagen #Passat #Variant . My Dad had one of these in the 90s. This one was imported from #NorthernIreland by a Brazilian lad living here. #Snowflakes are a lovely touch, he got them shipped over from home. The interior was spotless, a timewarp of tweed and real buttons. And an automatic, which would have been super rare back in the day!

I do need one of these too, this goes at the base of the gearshift inside the cabin. No longer available originally, but thanks to the magic of 3D printing someone's made new ones. And it's a Kombi part as well as Passat.

And holy smokes, it's no longer like stirring pudding in a bowl to shift gears. He's NEVER shifted so tightly and nicely in the 15 years I've had him 😀 Took him for a few blockies and around the burbs and he is just fab to drive.

Then a storm rolled in so we went home to some cover. Because he's old and leaks.

This is the mechanism rebuilt. The lower bar was badly repaired in Frank originally, so I bought one from Argentina. Turned out to be slightly too long. But the one from the B1 we wrecked was ok, as was the bracket with matching ball joint so they now live in Frank.

When we pulled Frank's shifter apart, it was clear that there were severely damaged bushes, and also bushes that were completely missing.

First photo - the remains of one bush on left, a new bush pushed through the bar on right. Head completely gone on original one.

He lives! Frank is alive again! All the perishable parts of his gearshift have been replaced with all new components that were originally for VW Brazil cars build in the eighties and early nineties, which were first designed by Audi in the early seventies for VW Passat/Audi 80/Fox.

This week I rented a #VW #Passat. This car has a “feature” called #AdaptiveCruiseControl. It is by far the worst piece of technology put in to a car to date. The exploding fuel tank in the #Pinto was a better feature than Adaptive Cruise Control.

I need one of these kits. These parts were used in a lot of Brazilian VWs like the Gol, Pointer and Saveiro. Now to see how to get the kit. Be much easier than trying to make these.
