A #question for the #linux crowd: there are a thousand tutorials on using graphics cards to do #passwordcracking - but why are there near none about using graphics cards to generate #passwordhashes in the first place?

I may have the wrong end, and yes modern hashes have settings to reduce the impact of gfx card cracking, but wouldn't it make sense to use a gfx card to speed up/harden the process, especially if you don't have a beast server on the back end?
