I think that is a very fair point. I would venture to suggest that much of the apparent cultural difference between the #English and the others is simply the delayed effect of the former having relied much more on #agriculture than #pastoralism in the past.

#Dingoes in Australia are mostly known as a pest that is killed with pesticides, bullets or hung as a 'strange fruit from the poplar trees'.
Contemporary research has found that “Most dingoes in Australia are pure dingoes rather than hybrids”
“..This study encourages us to reckon with a colonial mindset and the way it influences human-wildlife conflict in this country. We need to better appreciate Australia’s amazing wildlife that precedes European colonisation, and to make better use of new and innovative tools that can allow for dingoes and livestock production to coexist more harmoniously." One of the #oldest & most #sustainable #FoodSystems on the planet, #pastoralism allows #herders , along with #livestock to move from one climatic region to another every year in search of food, to take advantage of suitable pastures and grasslands, and in the process #sustain #biodiversity

Following my earlier post today on the #Kenya #Drought ⬆️ i just wanted to add this @mongabay report on #Turkana people having to switch from #Pastoralism to #Fishing in Lake Turkana as pastorialism is no longer viable for them given the ongoing, devastating
drought. Let’s make a collective effort to get the experiences of people struggling so very much due to #climateEmergency #ClimateCrisis heard in our #ClimateDiary

#Pastoralism plays a major role in #poverty alleviation & #development in drylands, but is largely sidelined by public policy. The latest issue of #Perspective gives some pointers to assessing its contribution.

"Some of the problems that we've inherited with this historic #cattle property is the noxious #weeds and the introduction of pondered pastures for cattle and its devastating impact on waterways and the #wetlands. We sit adjacent to a Great Barrier #Reef Marine Park lagoon and Halifax Bay, so it's critical that the #water quality that's going out to the reef is clean — and that doesn't happen unless the wetlands are functioning." https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-20/blue-carbon-project-to-restore-wetlands-at-mungalla-station/101742610 #pastoralism #legacy #biodiversity

I guess many in the GN (and some in the GS) would say "That's easy to solve - just stop keeping cattle", or something similar.
How pastoralism can help biodiversity & conservation efforts:

For no particular reason except its loveliness, here's a late #Neolithic vase from southern Spain formed as a fat, contented cow. It’s so satisfyingly rounded and balanced that maybe the potter who hand-made it c3000 BC just loved prehistoric #pastoralism too. It’s abt 10 cm long/tall.
