The Patients Over Profits pledge was introduced by National Nurses United and other health care advocacy organizations. This pledge states that a candidate or elected official will not take contributions over $200 from executives, lobbyists, and PACs affiliated with the hospital, insurance, and pharma corporations and instead pledge to put the health, well-being, and safety of their constituents over corporate health industry profits.

Cognition
Multimorbidity

A patient was sad today because they’re stuck in the hospital after a fall, was told to go to rehab, but had no way to look after their pet bird

The bird is the only thing living with them for the past 7 years

Pet is family
Health care is multifactorial
We can do better

I did today

Until I called family
And retested when family was present

Patient passed in a single try with flying colors

Family is an *integral* part of the patient care team

We *should* expect patients to pull out IVs&try to get out of bed

It's not normal to be tied to IVs
It's not normal to be in bed all day

Our job *is not* to stop patients from pulling lines/getting out of bed

Our job is to help patients get as close to *normal life* as possible
