Bodice Block version 2 is a go. This time remembering to add seam allowance to the pattern 🤦♀️ #sewing #patternDrafting
I've been slowly pattern drafting for a vague amount of hours and have produced a Victorian vest pattern based on my exact measurements that consists of only three pattern pieces (and one facing, so technically four) but those three pieces have been *engineered to heck and back*
I've been in a patterning mood because I'm procrastinating sewing the jacket lining, and thus will need to make a mock-up for both a trousers and a vest at some point in the future. Sometimes it's nice to maths and geometry and eyeballing style lines!
Somehow it's over two hours later and I don't feel rested. But! Look at the patterns for #TheLinenRidingJacket
Starting with the front, the side seams are just a bit different and I let out the second dart. This is fine.
Then we get to the shoulder! Sure, I have scoliosis and like many people my right shoulder is much lower. This is fine, means Things for the sleeve setting but ehh.
Then we get to the irritating part! The narrowest point of my waist is higher on one side and the shape of my ribs is different. This is just plain annoying to accommodate for and different in every single fabric and on every garment.

I have indeed, made the sleeve bigger. Comparison with the sleeve lining, which I will not enlarge!
I've done this before and they did teach us how to do this in dressmaking school and you can make a million mockups (I'm not going to) but you'll never truly know how it behaves in the final fabric... so I guess time will tell.
The shapes do give me *such* serotonin, tho

Me, making style adjustments to the sleeves of a pattern I've fitted previously, out loud: I AM GOING TO MAKE THEM BIGGER

Doing a search of free and open source pattern drafting software gives

Anyone use pattern drafting software? Anyone use either of these?

This is the cowl sleeve I drafted and sewed up but I still need to decide what bodice to sew this into, this and the second sleeve. It would help if I had taken the original standard sleeve shape (before adapting it) from an existing pattern, but I didn't think ahead.

This is wonderful. "The Making of the Moon and the Stars Dress" by Frieda Lepold. 🌟
my #trans social bubble always ends up being burst in the weirdest ways. i’m trying to draft a bodice block since there’s no pre-made patterns out there for people shaped like me…. except none of the guides i can find are for people shaped like me either. none of the people in the videos look like me, so i can’t visually compare my work to theirs to make sure i’m on the right track. and this is just the block, let alone the #patternDrafting or actual garment construction
Another sleeve design I drafted. This is the one I started my sleeve shape journey with. I had loads of fun drafting this! Inspiration pic printed from the Internet on the right. It also shows the shape of the sleeve pattern piece. It looked challenging but do'able.
The central shape with the curve for the top of the sleeve head turned out not to be tall enough, I couldn't get the horizontal pleat with this. Will post my V2 pic when I find it.

Latest draft of my waistcoat pattern is pretty much ready to go. I mocked this one up in a heavier muslin that behaves more like my wool and wool blends.
Next up: time to actually cut some fabric. Probably starting with a wool/rayon remnant, but not sure what I'm doing about lining. I might have enough to self-line.
