Today’s listening is ‘What Have We Become’, the 2014 album by Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott.
This was the first album by this terrific duo, Jacqui Abbott having sung with Heaton’s previous band, The Beautiful South.
Great pop tunes combined with Heaton’s on-the-nose lyrics about life in modern-day northern England.
Someone needs to make that man poet laureate!

Great evening seeing Paul Heaton minus a poorly Jacqui Abbott. A shame as I adore her voice but the evening was still really special as Paul and the band made a real effort, divvying up the missing vocals with unusual versions of some very Jacqui songs.

A fanatstic night at Stockton's Globe theatre last night with Billy Bragg and Paul Heaton. Great songs from both.
