"Wooden Ships" is a song written and composed by #DavidCrosby, #PaulKantner, and #StephenStills, of which versions were eventually recorded both by #CrosbyStills_Nash and by #JeffersonAirplane; Kantner was a founding member of the latter group. It was written and composed in 1968 in #FortLauderdaleFlorida, on a boat named the Mayan, owned by Crosby, who composed the music, while Kantner and Stills wrote most of the lyrics.

#PaulKantner of #JeffersonAirplane died on 28 January 2016, on exactly the same date as Airplane co-founder Signe Toly Anderson.

A prolific member of the #LaurelCanyon scene, Kantner wrote Wooden Ships with #DavidCrosby and recorded a concept album with Crosby, Nash, Jerry Garcia et al.

Crosby nicknamed Kantner and Grace Slick, then a couple, “Baron von Tollbooth & the Chrome Nun”, which became the name of a 1973 album. Rolling Stone called Kantner and Slick “the psychedelic John and Yoko”.
