I wanted to get better at playing the guitar, but I never seemed to find time to practice.

I do spend a lot of time waiting at the door for my dog to come in from outside.

So, I decided to make use of those few minutes to pick up my guitar, and practice.

But first I needed to wash my hands, got to keep the guitar neck clean.

And now, whenever my dog wants to go out, and stands by the door, and gives a little bark, I go and wash my hands. Eat your heart out #Pavlov.

But it has a Union flag, and that’s all they see. They didn’t read the back of the pack where it’s sourced from Irish meat, or through the Dublin office. Always makes me laugh. #pavlov

The dogs are afraid of storms. The power often goes out, and the UPS units in the house start to beep.

I just discovered that unplugging a UPS (which makes it beep) invokes the dog's fear response.

Someone should do a study on how dogs associate make these associations.

Algo muito interessante sobre #Pavlov é que sua teoria foi fagocitada pelos behavioristas de um lado e pelas #neurociências de outro.

Só que o centro de sua teoria não envolve apenas o reflexo, mas seu significado fisiológico. Esse significado foi simplesmente varrido da história da #Psicologia. Sequer os behavioristas o entendem bem, pois permanece apenas o modelo reflexo.

Essa operação de esquecimento sem maiores motivos é muito semelhante à que ocorreu com #Wundt, no início do séc. XX.

Obituário de Edwin Twitmyer, psicólogo norte-americano sobre o qual se atribui ter descoberto o reflexo condicionado antes de #pavlov mas teria sido "esquecido".

Historiadores de manual, como Schultz e Schultz, atribuem isso a um jantar no qual William James estaria indisposto a ouvir. Mas não seria mais uma vez o velho tema de que o americano sempre se antecipa, ou tem algo compatível, com as invenções dos estrangeiros?
