I realized today that #YouTube and #streaming is more often than not basically public access and PBS shows.

Like, I see shows I would have once seen on the history channel. I learn things about music and history. Indeed, my own two shows--reading folklore and write alongs--would have been right at home on PBS or local cable.

Yet, those channels insisted they went to reality shows because the other stuff was unpopular. Obviously, that was bullshit. We mostly yearn for #PBS style shows.

Idle Thought: It's begging for dollars time again on my area #PBS TV station. I knew immediately when I saw Saturday night's lineup of concerts by elderly members of washed-up rock bands.

How is this a sustainable business plan?

@lauren My kiddo is now 16, but when he was younger we used to watch wonderful online #PBS Digital Studio science shorts called “Be Smart” (original name: “It’s OK to be Smart”). He tried to pull it up on his own computer one day and was thwarted — we always had to watch on my computer. 😑
