In terms of a a #voip client? There are things like Linphone for Linux / Windows. Google for „open source softphone“ will help you😉
If you are looking for a #PBX, Asterisk is a very popular choice and can also be extended in many languages via AGI (Asterisk Gateway Interface).
If you need to get down to ghe #SIP level, Kamailio is a powerful SIP server that can do things like load balancing, rewrite SIP messages, managing RTPengine for transcoding of audio codecs and alike.

R to @TheHackersNews: 3CX #PBX client is available on multiple platforms, but the attacks are currently limited to the #Windows Electron client.
🛠️ In response to the attack, #3CX CEO Nick Galea announces a new build to be issued soon.

Double, triple check your firewalling, and configure your SIP trunk (assuming you are using on) to set a limit on simultaneous outbound calls, and limit the maximum per min capping. Otherwise, config error / security flaw == potential for massive bill.
In terms of FreePBX, I don't have any particularly useful tips, I'm afraid, as I haven't used it for some years now. (I'm using the VoIP stack in my router instead.)

Oh, forgot to update. Turn's out I unfairly blamed #FreePBX unfairly, this time the blame was on #UniFi. We have a USG at that site and it decided to randomly start shiping phone traffic (and only phone traffic) out the WAN2 interface which is a T-Mobile cellular backup. And that IP (which is not static so not whitelisted) got blocked by intrusion detection.

One thing I’ll never do is get rid of my landline phone number. It’s important to disconnect from time to time, and quite regularly I won’t carry my mobile around home after hours or on weekends so it can often be the only way to reach me.
I’m also a massive phone geek and collect #pbx and other phone systems so naturally I have a system installed in my home (which has an auto attendant kick in after hours). It’s an Avaya IP Office 500 v2.
Here’s a little tour of some of the 15 phones at home.
There's a lot going on in the world right now and I'm still looking for nice people who want to help me with my #Cisco #Router #FXO #FXS #PBX communications project, possibly join in. The beginning is here. https://github.com/ict4f
A long time ago, when I was an apprentice, I pulled one of these monsters out of the dumpster at work (it was already outdated technology by then), got it going and installed it in my parent's basement, wired to a few rotary dial phones around the house and our phone line.
It's an old Siemens PBX, all relays and hand-tied wire looms. Zero transistors.
It clackered pleasantly and very loudly while dialing.
anybody out there running a simple #PBX setup on open source software??
I don't need much. basically just something to route (extremely rare) inbound calls to a handful of devices. and maybe do SIP SMS, allegedly my provider can do SIP messaging. but that's a nice-to-have.
Hey all! I have a serious problem with my #PBX #server #thinclient. It seems the #SSD was written all the way to full capacity and now I can mount the drive, but I can't fix #superblock issues, #partition the #drive, or write to it. I have backed up the whole drive to a second PC via #rsync. Any suggestions? Should I just boot the machine from a 128GB flash drive or something? I think I could replace this 16GB SATA SSD with a 32GB one for little. @claudiom
