Newbie #PCB question - what's the advantage of having your PCBs panelised, vs just arriving loose in a box? Is it to make final assembly of multiple boards easier? I've only ever made simple breakout boards or incremental prototypes, and can't picture a benefit to receiving those on a single physical panel, which I assume just means none of my projects have ever made it to a point where boards arriving on a panel together would be useful.

The recommend land patter by Würth ( left) looks like its for wave soldering... On the right is the footprint as specified by NXP for the same package. The NXP version allows me to route the data lines underneath the package. The Würth Version doesn't. #electronics #pcb

In limbo after a session slaving over a hot soldering iron, lots of flux and fine solder braid trying to get a 24-pin 0.5mm-pitch connector soldered onto a @MCQN_Ltd prototype PCB that @huffeec has been working on.

Just waiting on a final inductor to be soldered before we power it up and see if I've had any joy with it.

❓ I have a few questions about PCB layout and bypass caps.

The IC (audio codec, TSSOP) has two power pins on its digital side, they can accept different voltages. The datasheet recommends 2 caps per pin (100 nF + 1 µF).

1️⃣ If I power both pins with the same source, is it better to split the power trace before the caps to make sure each pin get their current from their assigned cap only? (see draft picture) Or doesn’t it really matter?

Mini project last week: I needed some new business cards (and a quick win), so I went paperless. Tap em on a phone and it opens a website (LinkedIn or Github depending on the event). It can also share contact details on Android, but not iPhone, yet.

The cards are 0.8mm PCBs with black soldermask, and the chip is the NT3H2211W0FTT by NXP; you program it with your choice of NFC app.
