Spent some time testing different power setups for my #misterfpga off an #ATLANTISforMiSTer prototype ITX adapter board.
In this embodiment, I’ve got the #ATX +5vsb 3.0A running via a Pololu 2808 module to power the system and utilise any PC case momentary switch.
Using a DC jack input for power on the #ATLANTIS is simpler because less soldering required but if the PC case already has an ATX or SFF supply then the +5V standby is handy.
Of course, if you had the desire you could build a small latching circuit on the solderable breadboard part of the ATLANTIS board and utilise all voltage outputs from the #ATX breakout area for fans, mood lighting etc.

One thing I didn’t realize was that the new #FractalDesign #North #PCCase only supports 120mm fans at the back, while I only had 140mm #Noctua fans. The top of the case supposedly does support 140mm, but the Noctua fans have have their mounts different, so wouldn’t fit.
So I ordered some new ones, which conveniently came in the same day as a new #NVMe drive I got to replace another in my #BTRFS mirrored system drive.
Now I have two identical drives, and my case is filled with ugly brown. Nice.

When yesterday turned into a positively unproductive day, I decided to make the best of it and transplant my PC over to the new #FractalDesign #North #PCCase.
It’s a bit smaller than the Define R6, as that one had a ton of space for hard drives. My original plan when I picked that case was to build my PC as both a server and workstation, but ultimately decided against it.
The new case is more suitable for my needs, and I like its aesthetic. Understated, and not out of place in a home office.
Question for all you fine folk: building a mini-itx cluster. I’ve found several awesome cases that can hold the board and CM modules but all of them have a giant hole for a regular PSU and this uses a pico psu. What would you use to cover that PSU hole on the case? Worried too much dust will get in case. And I don’t have a 3D printer or crafting skills…. #MiniITX #Mini-ITX #Cluster #PCCase
