On #HuCardHuesday here’s “Appare! Gate Ball”. This is a 1988 game developed by Azuma & published by #HudsonSoft. Unusually this is a Croquet simulator played by 2 teams with the player choosing their side from a selection of offbeat characters.

Another small bit of work done for my #pcengine #homebrew: to have sprites of different sizes ready for that fake scaling effect, I needed to have an automated tool or I'd go insane making them ready-to-go for VRAM upload and consumption. The only thing I'm missing right now is proper VRAM sprite alignment (these get a bit convoluted on the PC Engine for hardware sprites bigger than 16x16) but that should be a quick fix. Back to the PCE codebase :D

#pcengine #homebrew really doesn't deserve Mesen but I'll gladly take it. Everything in it is super useful, especially the event viewer: here I can see some of my scanline scrolls are glitching because my code is too fast (if a Y scroll change is made during active display, it's deferred to the next scanline). Some writes to the BYR register happen on the edge of hblank, and some don't, hence the randomness.

On #HuCardHuesday here’s “Star Parodier”. This is a 1992 vertically scrolling shoot-em-up developed by Interstate/Kaneko for Hudson Soft. The game parodies the Star Soldier series in the same way as Konami’s Parodius does for Gradius.

Out of nowhere I got motivated to ressurect my PC Engine racing game project, so I made a track editor tool to help me precalculate data for it. DearPyGui is really limited (no drawing to textures or changing interpolation to nearest neighbor? really???) but it works fine to put out a quick, dirty, but fairly pleasing tool to use. I'm happy with how it turned out, but there still are some features to be added. #pcengine
