Things I wish I had time for:

- #Dreamcast accessory that makes the system think it’s talking to a modem but it’s actually a UART to IP bridge, but without the analog phone bits that are required with #DreamPi. Make this accessory have an expansion header for someone to also attach a BBA emulator to the bus.

- hardware hack for the #PCjr to make #EGA modes that are feature compatible work by mapping memory and implementing registers (and also redefinable characters with shadow RAM)

Anyone on here interested in #retrocomputing ? I have an IBM #PCjr that I haven’t gotten around to that I want to clean up and get working. I don’t have a power supply, where should I start? I saw something that uses a PicoPSU and an adapter for a PCjr but it’s been a while and I don’t want to go on Facebook.

I also have an old VT240 serial terminal

Mike Berlyn made and designed some of the games I'm most fond of. Oo-Topos and Suspended among others. Here's a picture of Suspended for #PCjr Mastodon (which you are now on: welcome).

Has anyone made a translator/interposer that uses a simple CPLD/FPGA to implement the #EGA / #MCGA modes that are technically doable on #PCjr / #Tandy graphics hardware? There are quite a few games that would be playable (even without a V-20 or PC-Sprint mod) which otherwise don’t run or only run in 4-color #CGA.

#PCjr Mastodon begins the weekend with Zork on a 128KB PCjr. It changed to 80 columns when I added more RAM! On its own!

Finally got my childhood computer back online! IBM PCJr. Removed the 300 baud modem and added a WiRSa RS-232 to Wi-Fi, SD-Card Jr, and texElec serial breakout board. #retrocomputing #pcjr #bbs

I started programming on the #PCjr with #Basic, but my first 'real' language was #pascal (#TurboPascal 6 to be exact).

I credit Pascal with teaching me early on to structure my code clearly and especially declaring variables at the top of code block (`VAR` had to come before `BEGIN`).

#OpenSCAD doesn't require this but it is a mess without this kind of structure - it's especially apparent if you use the Customizer.

Transylvania had a PCjr color patch. When I started the game, there were no graphics. Argh!

I hit "Escape" to try to leave the game.... and that flips between all-text mode and graphics mode. Funny. The game definitely does not tell you this but then, I don't exactly have the manual kicking around.

Cyrus is one of the most feature-rich games I've ever seen on a #PCjr. (You are back on #PCjr Mastodon.) I tried to beat six different old computer Chess games during the worst of the pandemic and lost to all of them, so I have not tried a full game of Cyrus yet. Yet!

But it has features like 2D and 3D viewing, board "rotation" in 3D view, a clock, a CPU vs CPU mode, game analysis and other options. I can't think of another PCjr game that thought of EVERYTHING like Cyrus.
