I've been thinking of switching from Sync to pCloud - mainly to consolidate my family's separate cloud storage and to serve as a good home for video materials for projects.

The 10TB Family plan is a steep up-front, but seems worthwhile.

Anyone have issues with it? Anyone love it? Thoughts?

I can't believe #PCloud is still offering 500 12 gig as a base. Most of us have drivers a lot bigger than that as our base now. I was going to use it as a back up service but it turns out that the space you have is also taken up by backup? Um? Huh? at least under the free option

Occasionally I work from home, remoting into my office laptop with 2 external screens. 3 screens in total. Work device does run Windows.
My main home system is a System76 Thelio tower running #PCLinuxOS KDE Plasma. Attached is 1 widescreen curved monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440. Although this is a great resolution it is not quite enough to comfortably work with the remote 1920x1080 screens all at once.
Therefore I will often use a 2nd screen in the form of my Alienware M15x A08 laptop, also running PCLinuxOS KDE Plasma. The device was built in September 2010, almost 13 years ago yet still works great!
I use #Barrier software KVM between my home machines to share one keyboard, mouse, and clipboard.
I use this screen to hold notes and access documents from #pCloud. Today it was a MS Excel document which I worked on via #LibreOffice Calc.

My Dropbox subscription was due for renewal. I decided to switch to something that suits my needs & is cheaper. Was looking at pCloud & Icedrive. I've gone with Icedrive. I know there are more features with pCloud, but the UI & it's UK based has won me over!

Also I previously owned the domain icedrive.net & sold to the guys in 2018. So I'm a little biased I guess lol

Being with #pCloud for a week already it looks good, but lacks knowledge base. For example, they have a feature to make files or folders accessible offline, but on Andoid I can't see those files. I assume, they are in the app's container. I just don't know what to expect, how it works, etc.

They have a set of backup features where you can grab everything from #GooglePhoto or #GoogleDrive, but when you open the image gallery in the app, it shows you all images, so may find duplicates.

Then #SugarSync looked old-fashioned with their ugly Android app, so they didn't catch me despite their plans.

#Sync.com was actually the first in the list, but went down surprisingly they day I wanted to check them out 😀

So, I restored #pCloud in the list, which is quite popular, has nice-looking plans. I hadn't been considering it because they don't have family plans with monthly payments.

Finally got around to removing Insync https://www.insynchq.com/ in favour of just using pCloud. It hasn't worked properly with Google Drive in ages, authentication is broken.

Hilariously stupid that Google Drive doesn't support Linux natively, they have tons of desktop Linux use inside Google.

I love supporting underdogs like Insync, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Pity.

Does anyone have any reliable fairly hands-off ways of synchronizing multiple file storage services?

I have a lot in iCloud, which I’ve heard some horror stories about, so I have some things other places (Google Drive, AWS, pCloud) but it’s all very manual and not nicely synced at all.

@mani2jeff No, if you delete the link and generate a "new" link, you get the *same* link again. You cannot generate a new link until you delete the file from the #pCloud and reupload it (I did not test if you really get a new link).

I think this is problematic, if you want to revoke a share from one person ('Malice') by deleting the link and afterwards want to share with a different person ('Alice'). If you don‘t use (different) passwords Malice still has access.

#pCloud-support answered that this is an **intended** behavior and fixing it would brake other user's workflows. 🤦‍♂️

@mani2jeff #pCloud has some pros, but sharing is IMHO not one of them.

pCloud allows only *one* sharing-link per file or folder.

As a frequent #Nextcloud-user I miss the feature to have *multiple* sharing-links for *one* file or folder in pCloud. This gives me the ability to share an object with different users with different passworts, different access-control, and different link-lifetime. And I can revoke the access per link and not all-or-nothing.

Ich brauch mehr Speicherplatz, Geschwindigkeit¹ & Benutzerrechte, um Einstellungen vorzunehmen.
Ich werd BEIDE Netzlaufwerke ausrangieren & stattdessen nen Raspberry Pi 4 mit 8 GB RAM samt SSD-RAID hier aufstellen. Dann ginge auch das automatische Backup zur #pCloud ohne Probleme, im Gegensatz zu jetzt mit #Synology und #QNAP, die beide mit #pCloud inkompatibel sind.

Was muss ich beachten?

¹Hab 50MBit/s Upload, das sollte reichen, oder?
