The *holds nose* government is potentially doing something right by launching a survey for women in England only covering the reproductive system. Whether you've been pregnant or not, want to be or not, if you have first hand experience of female reproductive matters then why not add your views and experiences and express your preferences?

cramps seem to have been getting stronger for me as of late. Granted, I take birth control for , so it's technically withdrawal bleeding. But still, I notice they've been a bit more painful. I've mainly been chilling with some games on the & . Been playing Silent Hill & SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom (in widescreen on real hardware!) for the first time.

I didn't get diagnosed with until I was 36 despite having all the symptoms. I didn't get diagnosed as & having until 46 despite having all the symptoms. Doctors kept ignoring my complaints simply because I'm a cis woman & refused to give me proper exams. How different would my adult life have been had doctors not continuously failed me simply based on my gender?

I'm trying again to quit sugar. I have insulin resistance & fatigue because of PCOS, hoping this will help.

I did it before - 6 wks of cravings, loads of energy - then got pregnant, which cocked it up (all I could eat with morning sickness was satsumas/crisps!)

I'm on day 2 this time. The crashing tiredness and headaches are intense. It's my bday party this weekend & planning to treat myself then, so will just have to start again next week!

It's concerning to see that women with PCOS are facing disproportionately higher body image issues - this is yet another example of the systemic healthcare inequalities that women face. We need more action to ensure better healthcare for all.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention is that I feel that my unhealthy behaviours now are driven less by the original unhelpful beliefs, and more by compulsion.

Fascinated by the recent discussion that could be considered under the umbrella of .

PCOS has caused my most consistent issues with health and self-image (most hospitalisations and surgeries I've had relate to its complications). Taking and androgen blockers throughout my life has usually kept me in better, happier form. Some of my PCOS-cuzzies are transmasc, and take T instead.

Oh, I am so sick of hearing the words "diet & exercise," as if that doctor was the first to suggest it, and as if I hadn't tried it a dozen times before! I SOOO feel your frustration with that.

It might be a stretch, but a lot of women with unspecific stomach issues tend to also have (I do). If you have any of the other poss symptoms, you could have PCOS. You don't have to have all, just some, in order to have it. It's NOT caused by "diet & exercise."

So now that I know I'm I'm of course trying to do more research on it in order to understand myself better. (Not a lot of resources for adults who were newly diagnosed, I notice, it's mostly for parents of Autistic kids.) I found out & tend to go hand in hand. Yet another thing that, like y makes me wonder how different my life would be if I had been diagnosed younger.

@ohtwist Parts of this research don't surprise me at all, the parts that are held together by iron!

Iron-deficiency anemia [1] patients "had a significantly greater risk of autoimmune disease if they were female or had the comorbidities of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cancer, allergic rhinitis, urticaria, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or chronic liver disease." [2] I've also seen iron-deficiency anemia listed as a comorbidity of autoimmune.

Detour: new research suggests fibro is autoimmune [3] (if nothing else, fibro is another common comorbidity of autoimmune)

Iron-deficiency is also linked to ADHD! via dopamine. [4] In particular, "children with ADHD plus sleep disorders, in particular restless legs syndrome, are at risk of iron deficiency." [5]

Not iron, just bendy: "Joint hypermobility may cause widespread arthralgia in patients due to misuse or overuse of hypermobile joints." [6] Look at this (over the top) list of hypermobility comorbidities! headaches, POTS, MCAS, IBS, PCOS, poor wound healing and stretch marks, arthralgia, autoimmune, mononeuropathy, Sleep Disordered Breathing ... [7] (yikes)

  1. iron-deficiency anemia often appears with ADHD
  2. iron-deficiency anemia AND hypermobility often appear with autoimmune, fibromyalgia, and other comorbidities

Neurodivergence gets a lovely Venn diagram (overlap between ADHD, Autism, and Giftedness) here: tendingpaths.wordpress.com/202

Whew, that was an autistic-style brain dump of research!
